Be The Messenger Become a facilitator

Privacy

What we collect on bethemessenger.org, why, and what we do with it. Short version: we keep what you send us, we use it to reply to you, and we do not sell it.

Who we are

This site is operated by BCS & Associates, Inc., in collaboration with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness. You can reach us at info@bethemessenger.org.

What we collect

When you fill in a form on this site, we receive what you typed: usually your name, email address, organization, and your message. The form also records the page you sent it from and the time. That information is emailed to us and kept in our inbox so we can reply and keep track of the conversation.

If you ask for a guide, we use your email address to send it and to send you The Messenger Dispatch, Dr. Starks' newsletter on Substack. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.

If you take the facilitator course, we keep the first name, email address, and path you enter on its first page, and a record of each step you finish, so we can see where people stop and follow up with you. Your progress is also saved in your own browser so you can leave and come back; the "Start over" link at the bottom of the course clears it. The application you send at the end of the course is emailed to us and kept on our server so the person who interviews you can read it first.

If you book a call or an interview, the scheduler opens on this site but is run by Calendly, which has its own privacy policy.

Facilitator certification is contracted and invoiced by the Center for Teacher Effectiveness. Its own terms apply to that agreement.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how they found the site. It sets cookies and records the pages you view, roughly where you are, and what kind of device you use. It does not tell us who you are. You can block it with a browser setting or an ad blocker and the site will work the same.

Embedded content

Some pages embed content from other services, such as YouTube videos, podcast players, and the Substack signup. Those services may set their own cookies when you use them, and their privacy policies apply.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or add you to any list you did not ask to join. The people who see your messages are Dr. Starks and the small team that supports his work.

Keeping and removing your information

We keep messages for as long as we need them to work with you. If you want us to delete what we have about you, email info@bethemessenger.org and we will.

Children

This site is for adults and for the organizations that work with young people. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with the date it took effect. This version took effect October 2026.
